Class of 2015
*During English III (your junior year), you should have:
1) Completed your "Ethics Pledge" including signatures and returned it to your English III teacher to be filed.
2) Completed your "Liability Form" including signatures and returned it to your English III teacher to be filed.
3) Choose a Topic that is discussed and approved by your English III teacher/academic adviser.
4) Successfully completed your Research Paper about your selected topic.
5) Find a Mentor with whom to complete your 15 hour (minimum) mentorship.
6) Complete your "Mentor Information Form" including signatures and returned to your English III teacher for filing.
7) Complete your "Mentor Approval Form" including signatures and returned to your English III teacher for filing.
NOTE: Not all students had access to the Mentor Approval Form. It is required only if the Mentor Information
Form is one of the older versions that does not include the parent approval portion.
8) Completed "Journal 1" before your mentorship hours began
*Before you began English IV (preferably during the summer), you should have:
1) Completed your mentorship hours.
2) Completed "Journal 2" about half-way through your mentorship.
3) Completed "Journal 3" at the end of your mentorship hours.
4) Created a plan with your mentor as to what your Product will be and began working on it.
*During English IV you should:
1) Turn in Journals 2 and 3 to your English IV teacher for evaluation, revision, and finally filing.
2) Continue to work on and complete your product with your mentor. Seek advice from your
English IV teacher (he/she also servers as your academic adviser) when necessary.
3) Ask your mentor to complete the "Product Evaluation Form" (Page 1 and Page 2) to be returned
to your English IV teacher in a sealed and signed envelope.
4) Learn and/or practice Public Speaking Skills in preparation for the Presentation.
5) Seek any special permissions you may need from the administration. (Examples from previous
years include but are not limited to: Needing to bring to school dogs, horses, cows, fire trucks,
cars, boats, special persons with disabilities or expertise, materials to conduct cosmetology
demonstrations, etc.)
6) Complete the presentation on the date designated by the administration.
