The Rowan-Salisbury Schools Graduation Project began years ago as the North Carolina Graduation Project. It was a state mandated graduation requirement for one year, then each district was encouraged to continue the process with their own additions and/or modifications. The Rowan-Salisbury School System did just that. Thus, when "Googling"the requirements for the project there are often a variety of pages with conflicting information available.
Within our system each school administration was also given the latitude to further adjust the details of the project to better suit the needs of the student population as long as the fundamentals and integrity remained intact. This explains why there seems to be so much confusion as to what the requirements are and why one set of students may have different guidelines than another.
That serves as yet another point of change here at South Rowan High School. With half of our administrative staff being new to South Rowan this year (2014-2015) and major changes happening system-wide on a regular basis, the current seniors (Class of 2015) are grandfathered in under the project guidelines and expectations that were explained to them as they began this process in the beginning of their junior year or as they began here as new students this year. The current juniors (Class of 2016) will be held to expectations that are more like those of the original project as we become more streamline, uniform, and digital along with the rest of the district high schools.
That leads us to the following set of basic criteria for each group:
Class of 2015
Class of 2016 & Beyond
